Hi! I’m Carrie!
I’m a natural storyteller and bring an outsider’s perspective when looking for stories within a business. I’ve had 5 years of experience working with local businesses to tell their stories, boost their online presence and attract the clients they want to work with.
My business journey started when my kids were 5 & 3 and I was looking for an alternative to returning to full-time work in the 24/7 broadcast television industry. Having spent 5 years as a stay-at-home mum, I’d enjoyed a slower pace of life, and the chance to really get to know the people and businesses within our community in a way that working full-time never allowed. I discovered that there were so many small, locally-grown businesses run by people really passionate about what they did, but either didn’t realise they were doing anything special OR didn’t know how to tell people about it and it was burning them out. I thought it was such a shame that a lot of these businesses were risking being their community’s best-kept secret before they had even had a chance to create a difference for their dream customers.
And from there, a business idea was born! To connect with these local businesses and help them tell their stories so they could allow their dream customers to get to know, like and trust them and want to work with them.
It’s been an amazing 5 years of personal growth, business evolution. While I knew how to tell stories, create engaging content and top-quality video content, I had never run a business before! But I love learning and I love a challenge, and I really love helping people and wanted to make a difference for these small local businesses.
Initially supported by two business partners offering a range of marketing solutions under the name Red Feet Marketing, after two years when their lives took them on different paths I niched down and concentrated solely on video creation as Red Feet Video.
But while video gets amazing reach and is awesome at building relationships and connecting businesses to their audiences, used in isolation it’s not enough. Many local businesses I meet want help to tell their story, but want to work up to video, or also want help with their other content, and to link it all together, so mid-2021 I rebranded to Carrie Harman Creative, to expand my offering, utilise my other creative skills, and better help my dream customers to grow their businesses.
As Carrie Harman Creative I have been able to really align my business offerings and goals with my core values of courage, excitement, curiosity, authenticity, creativity & community.
I am a big believer in community and supporting local businesses wherever I can. We need to spread the word about the amazing businesses and business people we have around us to help them survive and thrive. Helping businesses to tell their stories and show their faces allows people to get to know them, like them, trust them and ultimately want to work with them. At the end of the day it’s all about human connection and the basic fact that most people want to do business people, not faceless corporations.
Now more than ever we need to find ways to make these connections online and that is where the content that I create for my clients can shine. I am determined to make content marketing accessible for local NZ businesses and strive to empower them to tell the stories behind and within their business and help them to get over the fear we as New Zealanders often have of speaking out proudly about what we do and our accomplishments.
Before running my own business I worked in broadcast television and other promotional roles, both in New Zealand and Europe, including Sky Television, National Geographic Channels, and Suzy’s World and have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from AUT, majoring in Television production. I also have experience in tutoring and supporting people to achieve the results they want, in a way that works for them and their business.
Outside of business, I am a train driver’s wife, Mum to 2 primary-aged kids, nature-lover and an active relaxer…
My passions are documentaries, real food, water sports, forest bathing and escaping into nature whenever I can, both with the kids and alone.
I am so glad to have you following me. I’d love to get to know you all, so feel free to leave a comment below introducing yourself and your business.
