Do you struggle to get into the right headspace to create videos for your business?

Don’t feel bad if you find the thought of it daunting from a self-confidence point of view! It’s not always easy, I’m with you on that one! I definitely prefer being behind the camera! But I also know that I have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with my audience, that I am the USP (unique selling point) of my business, and that people like doing business with people they like.  So, I owe it to my business to put myself out there on video as well so my audience can get to Know, Like and Trust me.

Here’s my process for getting in the right mindset to make my own videos:

🎬 Plan, but don’t over think it. Done is better than not.

✍ Note down video ideas as think of them, so when you have a moment to film something you don’t waste it thinking about what to film!

📒 Be intentional. Set aside time to plan and time to film, or it won’t happen. Plan your videos in advance of the day you are going to film them, so your energy is fresh when you go to film.

🗣 Practise talking to the camera, even if it’s just rambling off ideas that you are never going to share. You’ll get better with practise, and it will start to feel more natural.

👥 Imagine you are talking to a customer or lead face-to-face. Print a photo of your ideal client and stick it to your phone if that helps you ‘talk to them’ and not worry about the fact it’s actually a camera.

🕺 Feel silly and embrace it! Do a little silly dance before filming to get all the nerves out then go for it (or even film your silly dance like I have, that’s bound to get great engagement!).

😵 Don’t compare yourself to others already doing videos, compare yourself instead to all those who aren’t!

📲 Remember when you first start sharing videos not many people are actually going to see them (sad but true!). Use this as your time to practise, you will get better with every video you film! You can then look back on your early videos and celebrate how far you have come!

🙋‍♂️ If you want to make videos regularly but always find excuses not to, get yourself an accountability buddy.

❓ What’s stopping you doing video? Do you think any of these tips will help?

WANT TO TRY FILMING YOUR OWN VIDEOS, BUT WOULD FEEL BETTER WITH SOME TRAINING TO GET STARTED?

OR DO YOU JUST WANT TO BOOK A VIDEO SHOOT WITH ME AND GET IT OVER AND DONE IN A DAY?

I offer different shoot+edit options to suit many purposes, starting at $890+gst (type of video, requirements and durations may affect the final cost of your videos).

Key takeaways:

  • As a small business you DON’T need to be everywhere. Do 1-2 relevant social media platforms well.
  • Be where your target market is and where you have the skills/confidence/capacity to be.
  • If your preferred platforms and your target markets preferred platforms don’t align, upskill, get help or outsource.
  • Have a master content plan and tweak it to be relevant/most appropriate for each platform you are on. You don’t have to create new content for each platform!

Next steps…

Show up, be consistent and put your effort into the social media platforms you have chosen for 3 months, then analyse, reflect and reassess.

If you need a hand knowing what to post about, putting together a content plan, or are interested in having content created for you, check out the services I offer, or get in touch for a chat.

DON’T BE THE BEST KEPT SECRET!

Do you feel like you every time you post something on social media nobody sees it? Do you second guess yourself when it comes to the types of content your audience may find engaging? It’s a challenge many business owners face, and while there is no straight forward answer (algorithms around how social media platforms serve up posts change frequently!) there are some things you can do give your content the best chance of hitting the mark with your audience.
